WE NEED TO CHANGE THE MENTALITY AROUND SELF DEFENSE

You want to get in shape. It’s really important to you to improve your fitness level to live a healthier life. And you are excited about it.

You hear of a fitness seminar. A 2 hour seminar on a Saturday. You sign up and you bring a friend. You are ready!

You take the seminar. You have a lot of fun. You learn a lot. You sweat.

And then you never workout again after that.

You learned fitness, why aren’t you in shape?

It sounds ridiculous, right? This is the mentality about self defense. You learn techniques, and you know self defense. It doesn’t work like that.

People want to learn tricks. You press on someone’s neck, and they magically fall down. It would be easy that way. And some people preach techniques that do this. 

They don’t work.

Self defense is typically not viewed as an on-going activity. If someone wants to become a boxer, they know they need to train punching over and over. And all of the other skills incorporated in boxing. Why don’t we view self defense in the same way?

Self defense should be a by-product of training, not learning techniques.

So what do you do?

Train. 

Train.

Keep training.

And train some more.
